FREE report - Why Stretching Won't Make You Flexible

NEVER SKIP YOUR WARM UP! That goes for any level athlete, whether you're a true beginner, intermediate gym goer or advanced gym rat. The act of warming up should be intentional, dynamic and will without question lead to improved performance in your workouts.
2x Ms Figure Olympia Champion and former superstar track athlete Erin Stern always warms up. She may not always do these exercises but she is definitely always priming her body and preparing her muscles for work.
But why you may ask? Why do we need to "workout" before we actually workout? Because our body sits idle for hours at a time. You may sit a lot at your desk or in your car. You may have just gotten out of bed. Or you may just stand around a lot at your job but that doesn't really qualify for being READY to move your body effectively, explosively and with power.
Erin visited the Critical Bench Compound and since we were going to film a bunch of workout videos with her, we went ahead and filmed her actual warm up for the day. Again, she may not do ALL of these exercises before a training session typically but she will always move her body dynamically to prepare it for a particular training routine whether that be upper, lower or full body.
She did 12 warm up exercises, here they are listed in order:
Kettlebell Swings,
Quick Feet,
High Step Skips,
High Step Kick Skips,
Low Kick Drum Major,
High Kick Drum Major,
Butt Kicks,
High Knees,
Leg Swings - Front to Back,
Leg Swings - Side to Side,
Straight Leg Ball Kick
Windmills with Ball
Some additional history about Erin...she originally was a high level track and field athlete and just barely missed qualifying for the 2008 Summer Olymics in the high jump. Her amazing physique is a direct result of her intense training practices for her sport which led her to getting on stage only a year and a half after she missed going to the Olympic games.
PLEASE leave some comments and/or suggestions below, we love to interact with you and just maybe Erin will check in and reply to your comments.
