This video shows our Serval mum, Samia, with her 6 week old kittens. They are getting braver at exploring their enclosure now, with the reassuring licks and cuddles to encourage them from mum, Samia. Samia is never far away while they play fight or explore new areas of the enclosure, and she is very quick to step in if they seem slightly spooked by anything (such as noisy lions and tigers!). They seem to be getting even more bouncy by the day!




The Big Cat Sanctuary is set in the heart of the countryside at Smarden, in Kent. One of the stars of the BBC Two show 'Big Cats About the House', Maya the Jaguar arrived at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Smarden, Kent in July 2017.

Maya is an intelligent, confident and affectionate character and is becoming bigger and stronger every day.

This video shows our very proud Amur Tiger mum, Ronja, with her three 12 week old female cubs, on the day the cubs come face to face with their dad, Pan! Ronja was never far away, and she was very quick to step in and re-assure with quiet chuffing noises and licks when they got scared but her calm attitude to the whole changing enclosures, and meeting dad, helped her cubs through this very big, scarey, event!

This video shows our Amur Leopard mum, Xizi, with her 13 week old cubs. The cubs are getting bigger and stronger now and are always on the lookout for mischief to get into! You can see in this video that in their play fights they are getting a little rougher with each other. It is lovely to see after they have played so madly that they cuddle up and go to sleep together, normally outside in their tree house, and not so often with their mum in the main house.

Laila was born in Antwerp Zoo in April 2010, she arrived at The Big Cat Sanctuary in September 2011, where she won the hearts of keepers and staff immediately.

Yarko arrived at the sanctuary in June 2013. He is a big handsome boy and can regularly be seen sitting outside watching what is going on around the site.

Here they both are showing off their skills at work, rest and play!
